The company's 2000 series have always been big, as you can see from 2000-M1 and 2000-M2s, but the X-10 goes a step further in size and beefiness.
They are available in black and the traditional silver. The metal headband can be twisted back and forth without ever flinching, and there's plenty of adjustment for larger heads. The swivels and adjustment will feel very reassuring, with no apparent loosening up over time.
The X-10 have even passed the US military standard shock test. This headphone also has a 2-year warranty, so pioneer DJ is confident in their durability. After a few months of use, the ear pads and headband on older models did eventually start to show some signs of wear. But the X-10 have nano-coating on those parts that are designed to resist deterioration on that polyurethane leather by effectively repelling sweat and dirt.

Performance

You mostly get flat highs and flat mids with the HD-8-DJ. The lows are so well controlled that they don't overpower the slightly subdued highs, and while they don't pierce through the rest of the music, you can easily hear anything at the high-frequency ranges at reasonable listening levels.
